KJSIT is the second engineering college established by the Somaiya Trust, located within the 85-acre Somaiya Ayurvihar campus in Sion, Mumbai. The institute was set up to impart quality education in the fields of Information Technology and allied branches of Engineering and Technology. It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is permanently affiliated with the University of Mumbai. The college is housed in an 8-storey building equipped with modern classrooms, hi-tech laboratories, a library with e-access to digital resources, Wi-Fi, an auditorium, seminar hall, open-air cafeteria, amphitheater, butterfly garden, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, administrative office, and common rooms .
